We planned on making fun of the mega-hyped Angelina Jolie appearance on Anderson Cooper's show last night, but it turned out to largely be focused on the subject of famine in Africa -- a big issue for both Jolie and Cooper -- and not at all your average Barbara Walters-style scripted celebrity event. It was, shockingly, smart and thought-provoking. Sure, there was the inevitable money shot (below) where Jolie gets emotional after being pressed about a young boy she met on a U.N. sponsored trip to Sierra Leone. But nothing about it seemed corny or canned.
