America -- We Stand As One

A post-9/11 classic -- if you go for angels, rainbows and heavenly firefighters.

If you've never seen this before, you'd be forgiven for thinking Dennis Madalone's video for "America We Stand As One" is some cast-off David Hasselhoff video, or maybe the hit song from Oliver Stone's upcoming "World Trade Center." But no. In Madalone's words, the song (available, with the video, for download here) is "a dedication to our brave heros and all our Loved Ones who have passed away. This new American Rock Anthem fills you with hope and comforts you with a spiritual message from our Loved Ones." Now there's been speculation that the whole song is a spoof of post-9/11 kitsch. But a recent blog interview with Madalone suggests otherwise; of his song, he says: "It will be around for a long time after I pass away. 100 years or 1000 years from now, it will always be a message from our loved ones. It will surge until it reaches every one on its own."
