Pentagon ousts more service members for being gay.

Published August 15, 2006 2:56PM (EDT)

The Pentagon discharged 726 service members for being gay in 2005, a 10 percent increase over the number tossed out of the military in 2004, according to data obtained by the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network and published today by the New York Times. It turns out that Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri is some kind of hotbed of homosexuality: Sixty gay soldiers were discharged from the Army facility last year.
