This cover of a vintage Buffy Sainte-Marie tune was recorded by Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips (who played together in the now-defunct Luna) for a one-off album called "L'Avventura" a little while back. The song is one of those peculiar, kitschy epics from the late '60s and early '70s (think "MacArthur Park" and "American Pie") that matched vaguely elegiac and nonsensical lyrics to an elegant melody and theatrical sense of angst. Fans of Luna or Wareham's band Galaxie 500 will enjoy the way the duo's stylish languor lends the song an appropriately dreamy, spacey vibe that conjures images of silver jumpsuits and blue martinis.
