MSNBC is reporting the death of Rep. Charlie Norwood, a seven-term Republican from Georgia. Norwood, who suffered from lung cancer, decided to leave Washington earlier this month to receive hospice care back home in Augusta.

Under Georgia law, a special election will be held within 40 days to select Norwood's replacement in the House.
