Exclusive Daily Download: "Murder in Michigan," David Vandervelde

The most beautiful song about murder you'll hear all year.

Most the of the tracks on David Vandervelde's recently released debut, "The Moonstation House Band," come off like wiggy updates on the classic glam rock sound of T. Rex and Ziggy-era David Bowie, but "Murder in Michigan" is both darker and more beautiful. To continue the cross-era comparisons, the song absolutely nails the solemn beauty that George Harrison did so well in his softer moments. The fact that a song as lovely as this happens to be about killing someone only makes it, to me anyway, even more compelling.
