Muppets and celebrities

Those trippy puppets have had some really strange encounters through the years.

On Wednesday, the Webzine 10 Zen Monkeys published an article titled "5 Freaky Muppet Videos," which we found to be good stuff (both the article and the videos). The piece presents five clips of Muppets interacting with human celebrities over the years. All the videos are good -- even Elmo, the poor man's Muppet, with the Goo-Goo Dolls, a poor rock/pop band. Here are two that will whet your trippy appetite.

First, here's the terrific "Star Wars: The Muppets Strike Back." Although the article says Gonzo plays Darth Vader, we're pretty sure Mark Hamill is calling him Darth Nader, which is even better. And, is it just us or are the Muppets, R2-D2, C-3PO and the Wookie all better actors than Hamill?

And here's Kermit, along with Jim Henson, appearing on "What's My Line?" in 1974. Check out Soupy Sales triggering a segue into "It's Not Being Green." Then, kick back and enjoy a loungey rendition of a Muppet greatest hit.
