Back when he was the chairman of the Republican National Committee, Ken Mehlman called the Democratic Party the “Defeat-ocrat Party” and the “party of blame America first.”

Now that he’s signed on as a high-priced business consultant for Akin Gump — and now that the Democrats have taken control of Congress — Mehlman says he’s all about bipartisanship. “How do we get back to the time when you argued during the day and had a beer after work?” Mehlman asks the Wall Street Journal’s John Harwood. “That’s something I look forward to — particularly if someone else is paying.”
