No subpoena for Rove -- yet

The Senate Judiciary Committee authorizes subpoenas for Justice Department officials but not for White House "players."

The Senate Judiciary Committee has just approved the issuance of subpoenas for five current or former Justice Department officials involved in the firing of U.S. attorneys last fall, but Republicans on the committee have blocked -- for a week, at least -- the issuance of subpoenas to Karl Rove, former White House counsel Harriet Miers and White House deputy counsel William Kelley.

In a statement, Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer says it's "regrettable that members of the minority blocked subpoenas for some of the White House players."
