Song of the Day: "You Are Never Alone," Socalled

Hip-hop, soul and a Jewish cowboy.

There's probably a dissertation lurking somewhere in the grooves of Socalled's "You Are Never Alone," taken from the Canadian musical alchemist's new "Ghettoblaster" album, but there's nothing academic about the way the track's cross-cultural mix of hip-hop, soul and vintage Jewish novelty music coalesces into something actually quite beautiful. Furthermore, any song that opens with the line "Frankly, there's nothing so unusual about a Jewish cowboy" instantly gets high marks from me.
