A note to War Room readers

Road trip.

Although we've been accused of hailing from the "logic-free environment" of Washington, D.C., War Room has actually been an outside-the-Beltway production since its inception: Former Salon editor Geraldine Sealey launched the blog from New York in 2004, and I've been presiding over the proceedings from Sacramento since early 2005.

That's about to change.

When I log off today, I'll be packing up the War Room furniture -- plus a wife, three kids and a seven-month-old Labrador puppy -- and moving our base of operations to our nation's capital.

Salon's Alex Koppelman and Julia Dahl and then the incomparable Digby will be filling in while we're in transit. I'll be back on the job July 30.
