Quote of the Day

The Bush bump that wasn't.

Well, actually, it's the quote of the day from Oct. 27, 2006, when George W. Bush's approval ratings were bouncing around the mid-to-high 30s and NBC political director Chuck Todd was predicting that, if the Democrats were to take control of Congress and select Nancy Pelosi as the speaker of the House, the president's approval rating would be "over 50 percent by the Fourth of July next year."

The Fourth of July has now come and gone, the president's approval ratings have sunk to the mid-20s/low 30s range, and Media Matters is wondering when NBC is going to ask Todd to explain himself.
