The Craig watch

Plus: Could the GOP lose four more Senate seats in 2008?

From the "Not So Stirring Defense" Department, here's a spokesman for GOP Sen. Larry Craig on the calls for Craig's resignation coming from Sens. John McCain and Norm Coleman: "They have a right to express themselves."

And from the "More Bad News for Republicans" Department, here's the Evans-Novak Political Report with an update on 2008: "The call for a small Iraqi troop reduction by Sen. John Warner strengthens the belief that he soon will announce that he is not seeking re-election next year. His probable successor is former [Democratic Virginia] Gov. Mark Warner. Republican senators are now talking about losing four seats in 2008."

Update: Warner will reportedly announce Friday at 2 p.m. whether he's running for re-election or retiring.
