Reid to Bush on Olson: Don't even try

The Senate majority leader says Democrats won't confirm the former solicitor general as attorney general.

The president appears to be close to settling in on a nominee to replace Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, and former solicitor general and Bush-Gore -- well, Bush-Cheney -- attorney Ted Olson appears to be on the shortest of shortlists.

But here's Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid with a pretty unequivocal-sounding shot across the bow: "Ted Olson will not be confirmed." Reid says that Olson is a "partisan," and that the "last thing we need as an attorney general is a partisan."
