"I'm just hoping the school board will open their eyes and just realize that maybe they shouldn't be punishing us for hugs."

-- Megan Coulter, an eighth grader at Mascoutah Middle School in Illinois, quoted by the Belleville News-Democrat via Cookie.

Coulter was slapped with two days of detention for hugging two friends goodbye for the weekend. Yes, that's one day of detention per hug. Gee, what does Mascoutah Middle School do to kids who pick fights?
