As the writers' strike wears on and all of your favorite shows start sliding into rerun land, this might be an opportune time for you to meet Grace, a tough-as-nails homicide detective from Oklahoma City played by Holly Hunter. After premiering this summer, "Saving Grace" returns this month with four new episodes, the second of which airs tonight (10 p.m. EST on TNT). Hunter is indescribably great in this role: reckless, irreproachable and firmly committed to being an unrepentant slut for the balance of her days on Earth. Hunter is a petite woman, but she still lends Grace a swagger and a jaunty, crooked grin that make her seem as tall and imposing as her partner, Ham (Kenneth Johnson, who'll you'll remember best as Lem from "The Shield"). Although tonight's episode isn't the best of the bunch, this show's (and Hunter's) charms are pretty tough to deny.

On "Live From Lincoln Center" (8 p.m. EST on PBS, check listings) Wynton Marsalis performs. Sundance's excellent documentary series "Nimrod Nation" airs at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. EST. A&E's new reality series, "Paranormal State" (premieres at 10 p.m. EST), follows the misadventures of Penn State students who are members of the school's Paranormal Research Society.
