Mitt Romney, who spent $7 million on TV ads in Iowa, is searching for a metaphor to explain away his second-place finish to Mike Huckabee there. From an appearance on Fox News a short while ago:

"I'm looking for the gold or the silver. This is obviously a bit like a baseball game, first inning in a -- well, it's a 50-inning ball game. I'm going to keep on battling all the way and anticipate I'll get the nomination when it's all said and done. But, you know, congratulations for the first round to Mike, and we'll go on to New Hampshire."
