Romney defeats McCain

He may have dropped out of the race there, but Mitt Romney won the Conservative Political Action Conference's straw poll anyway.

Mitt Romney was supposed to be the golden boy at the Conservative Political Action Conference, the man who would deliver attendees from the haunting specter of John McCain. Then he dropped out.

But while Romney may have been willing to quit on CPAC, CPAC wasn't willing to quit on him. Results from a straw poll conducted there were released over the weekend: Romney 35 percent, McCain 34 percent.
