Salon Media Group, Inc. (SLNM) today announced that its Web site, Salon.com, reached over 1 million uniques in one day for the first time in the company's 12-year history. The traffic milestone was reached February 28th when Yahoo! linked from its home page, the most popular destination on the Internet, to a highly "buzzed" post on Salon.com's technology blog, Machinist ("Mnemonic for 11 planets . . .": http://machinist.salon.com/blog/2008/02/27/11_planet).

Salon's relationship with Yahoo! now includes participation in the new Yahoo! Buzz beta and promotion on the My Yahoo! personalized start page. Yahoo! Buzz measures consumer votes and search patterns to identify interesting and timely stories from websites across the Internet, with top stories receiving primary editorial consideration for feature placement on Yahoo.com.

"We're excited about our expanding relationship with Yahoo! and the exposure it provides to our award-winning content," said Chris Neimeth, Salon Media Group's Chief Executive Officer, "Yahoo!'s combination of technology, social news filtering and editorial curation creates a better user experience than other technology-only driven search services, and allows us to grow our audience of independent and influential thought-leaders."
