Bad news for anyone out there who was hoping for an Obama/Edwards or Clinton/Edwards ticket this fall: John Edwards said Thursday that he would not accept the Democratic nomination for vice president if it were offered to him.

The former North Carolina senator was, of course, John Kerry's running mate in 2004 after losing to Kerry in the Democratic race that year -- he dropped out of this cycle's race in January.
