Russert dead from apparent heart attack

Tim Russert, the longtime host of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” has died after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 58.

Russert, who had served as the press secretary to former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo and the chief of staff to Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.), joined NBC News in 1984 and took the reins of “Meet the Press” in 1991. According to the New York Post, he died Friday after collapsing in NBC’s Washington news bureau.
