Japan's new sexbot

She's the woman of your fantasies, if you dream of 15-inch cyborgs.

Some days, it feels like Japan is just one big Internet hoax. Seriously. The stuff that comes out of there just gets wackier and wackier. Today's export? Emma, the sexy new "humanoid hottie" designed by Sega for lonely men. We've written about "real dolls" before, but Emma is something a bit more chaste: a busty, 15-inch, battery-operated love cyborg who wiggles around awkwardly, sings, hands out business cards and offers "smooches to nearby human heads." Maybe I've overestimated the lonely men of Japan, but none of this sounds very, um, sexy. In fact, it looks pretty silly. To fully grasp the weirdness, you should watch the video of Emma. (The fact that I can't embed the video here is a freaking crime. I shake my fist at you, Reuters!) The delightful part is watching the spokeswoman tell us, while Emma (three-apples-high Emma) stands beside her on the table:

"She's very lovable and though she's not human, she can act like a real girlfriend."

Suuure. A real girlfriend for leprechauns maybe.

Of course, Emma is only the first step in battery-operated cyborg companions. Before we know it, Emma will be replaced by Fiona, who will stand a mighty 2 feet tall and may even be able to tongue-kiss. And then Fiona will give way to Gina, who can offer a proper hand job, and before you know it, all of Japan will be overrun with Sega sexbots. And you can say you read it here first.
