In the club ... with Botox?

Ibiza partygoers have added a new element to their recovery routines.

Color me naive, but I always thought that when people vacationed in Ibiza, Spain, their preferred drugs were not ones administered in doctors' offices. But according to the Sun, the hard-partying set has added something extra to their post-clubbing recovery periods. Forget detox. We're talking Botox.

According to the Sun, one enterprising mother-daughter dermatology team has set up shop in Ibiza, offering Botox, chemical peels, teeth whitening and varicose vein removal to clients who refuse to get on the plane home looking worse than they did when they arrived. "Their faces are obviously affected by the amount they drink, smoke and sunbathe," Christine Shenton, the mother half of the pair, told the Sun. "They want to do all those things but still look good."

Their customers are happy: "It's amazing considering the kind of lifestyle I lead," said one regular client. "It's non-stop partying from the moment I get off the plane, and I usually come to Ibiza at least twice a year." It's so effective, she enthuses, that "when I tell people I'm 25, they never believe me."

And then, the philosophical statement that makes me want to curl up in a corner and weep. "It's all about looking good for the party," the customer continued. "Thankfully now, no matter how bad I feel on the inside, the Botox will always make me look better on the outside." Superficiality, in this case, really is skin deep.
