Live-blogging: Mercy for Palin

Barack Obama wisely took a pass on attacking the Republican vice-presidential nominee.

Good idea for Barack Obama to take a pass on attacking Sarah Palin and questioning her qualifications.

It's tempting to say he should have gone for the jugular, and sometimes when he makes this choice not to press an attack, it's at least debatable. (No pun intended.) But Palin has done plenty of damage to herself -- no need to potentially hurt his own image, especially since all he'd really be doing is beating the proverbial dead horse.
