For Senate Democrats to get to the filibuster-proof magic number of 60, they needed to pull off an upset in either Kentucky, Mississippi, or Georgia.

The sweetest target for Democrats was Kentucky, where Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell appeared in trouble.

Not to be. Network projections say McConnell will survive.
