Obviated by Obama: Unity08

It wasn't long ago that Unity08 was portrayed as a solution to a problem Obama solved himself.

Remember back in 2007 when the Unity08 crowd was lamenting how much our politics had soured and why we therefore needed some sort of bipartisan ticket they promised to deliver?

Though they saw the writing on the wall by January 2008, and thus disbanded, I have to say I'm so glad that, among the other burials that Barack Obama's election caused, putting a merciful end to the self-important whining by Sam Waterston and the center-holding pining by David Broder for Unity08-style solutions was just one more lovely gravestone floral arrangement that looks and smells sweet today.
