House passes stimulus package

Despite Democratic efforts at compromise, the vote on the proposal ended up going along strict party lines; no Republicans voted for it.

The House of Representatives has just voted in favor of the Democratic stimulus proposal. As expected, the vote split along party lines. 244 Democrats supported the bill; 11 voted against it. No Republicans voted for the package.
