Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley gets intimate with the audience at the Sotomayor hearing

Published July 14, 2009 6:25PM (EDT)

Monday's session of the Senate Judiciary Committee's hearings on the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor was filled with anti-abortion protesters. But on Tuesday, the first protester didn't pop up until the afternoon. He made up for it with his passion, screaming "Filibuster Sotomayor! She's a baby-killer!" and tussling a bit with security as he was led out the door.

At the time of the interruption, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, was questioning Sotomayor. Once the protester had been led out, he quipped, "People always say I have the ability to turn people on."
