Republican Sen. Snowe will vote for Baucus bill

There will be at least one Republican voting in favor of a Democratic healthcare reform proposal

"When history calls, history calls."

That's how Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, explained her decision on Tuesday to vote in favor of the healthcare reform bill under consideration by the Senate Finance Committee. She's almost certain to be the lone Republican voting for the bill, and her decision is likely to have a real impact on the process going forward.

Snowe was careful to stress, however, that her vote in favor of the bill now, when it's coming out of committee, does not mean she'll vote for it or any other Democratic bill down the line. "My vote today is my vote today," she said. "It doesn't forecast what it will be tomorrow."
