Obama: I haven't brought country together

"[W]hole sense of changing how Washington works... [has] been lost this year," president says in interview

Ina  recent interview with People Magazine, President Obama made a couple interesting admissions.

The first isn't going to be news to anyone who's been paying attention: According to the Associated Press, Obama told People he hasn't succeeded in bringing the country together. Well, yeah. That's sort of obvious. But it is different to see a president acknowledging any sort of failure, as Obama's predecessor was famously reluctant to do that.

The second was a bigger deal, an admission of the problem the president's starting to have with his base. "That's what's been lost this year ... that whole sense of changing how Washington works," Obama said.
