Iran president says U.N. sanctions are worthless

Ahmadinejad calls the U.N.'s fourth round of penalties over nation's suspected nuclear program, "a used tissue"

Iran's president is dismissing the latest U.N. Security Council resolution imposing tougher sanctions against Iran, saying they are "like a used tissue."

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says "we do not recognize sanctions."

His comments come after a U.N. Security Council resolution imposing a fourth round of penalties against Iran over its suspect nuclear program that targeted Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard, ballistic missiles and nuclear-related investments.

He says "from right and from left, they adopt sanctions, but for us they are annoying flies, like a used tissue."

Ahmadinejad was speaking Wednesday in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, where he is on an official visit.
