Former NFL standout linebacker Junior Seau has driven off an embankment in Southern California and is hospitalized with minor injuries.

Carlsbad police say the 12-time Pro Bowler's Cadillac SUV was found on the beach 30 feet below the roadside.

Police Lt. Kelly Cain says he was taken to a hospital. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) -- Longtime NFL standout linebacker Junior Seau has driven off a cliff in Southern California and is hospitalized with undisclosed injuries.

Carlsbad police say the 12-time Pro Bowler's Cadillac SUV was found on the beach 30 feet below the roadside.

Police Lt. Paul Mendez says Seau was conscious and the extend of his injuries remains unclear. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
