Sweet milk punch

Free yourself from the tyranny of eggnog with this riff on a New Orleans classic

  • 1 cup fresh milk
  • Dash of cream
  • 1 ounce light rum
  • 1 ounce bourbon
  • Maple syrup (I love to use grade B, the flavor is so intense)
  • Freshly grated nutmeg
  • Ice


  1. Combine everything but the nutmeg in a glass and stir to combine. Add the maple syrup to taste. Grate the nutmeg over the top to add fragrance and a tiny hit of heat and spice.

You can freeze milk into cubes so melting ice doesn't water down the drink, but frankly, that has never been a problem. Everyone seems to finish the drink before the ice melts.
