Bachmann's big Elvis mix-up

The presidential hopeful wished the King a happy birthday on the anniversary of his untimely death

This post is past of our Bachmannalia series, in which we keep you updated on Michele Bachmann's bizarre, outrageous or just plain wrong utterances.

Aug. 16: Politico reports that Bachmann kicked off an event today in Spartanburg, S.C., with an impromptu celebration of mid-century Americana, by way of a birthday toast for Elvis Presley. "Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today," the Minnesota congresswoman was reported as saying.

Only problem? Bachmann got her dates mixed up, and today is actually the anniversary of the King's untimely death. (For the record: Presley was born on Jan. 8, 1935. He died in 1977, at the age of 42.)
