About 45 Cars Collide On Nashville-area Road

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A chain-reaction traffic crash on a fogbound Nashville-area highway involves nearly four dozen vehicles and there are injuries reported.

The pileup occurred after sunrise Thursday on Vietnam Veterans Parkway in Hendersonville, just northeast of Nashville. The limited-access highway is also known as state Rt. 386.

A dispatcher for the Hendersonville Police Department says there are reports of multiple injuries, but their severity wasn't immediately clear.

The accident began shortly before 7 a.m. CST in the eastbound lanes of the parkway, which was covered by heavy fog and had reported icy patches.

Officials estimate about 45 vehicles were involved.
