WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — A strong earthquake has rattled the New Zealand city of Christchurch. There was no tsunami warning issued and no immediate reports of serious injuries or widespread damage.

Friday's quake sent goods tumbling off store shelves and rattled residents' nerves. A strong quake that jolted Christchurch in February killed 182 people and destroyed much of the downtown area.

The U.S. Geological Survey says Friday's 5.8-magnitude quake struck 16 miles (26 kilometers) north of Christchurch at a depth of 2.5 miles (4 kilometers).

Shoppers fled city malls as the buildings shook on Friday.
