NEW YORK (AP) — Three young girls who died along with their grandparents in a Christmas morning fire in Stamford, Conn., will be remembered at a funeral in New York City.

St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Manhattan is holding the service Thursday for 10-year-old Lily Badger and 7-year-old twins Grace and Sarah Badger.

A private service will be held later at Woodlawn Cemetery for the girls and their grandparents, Lomer and Pauline Johnson, who also died.

Authorities say embers in a bag of discarded fireplace ashes started the blaze. The girls' mother, Madonna Badger, escaped the fire along with a friend, Michael Borcina.

Badger leaned on the arms of two funeral home workers as she attended a wake for her children and her parents Wednesday.
