RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — An Associated Press story from Monday, Jan. 10, reported that most victims of a forced sterilization program in North Carolina were poor, black women. While a spokeswoman for the state says that most victims were women, 40 percent of the overall victims were black. Case files also indicate that it was common for them to be poor.
