SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a sheriff's deputy used a stun gun three times on an airline passenger who refused to complete the security screening process at a California airport.
They say 26-year-old Edwin Barton told security officials he needed to go back inside Sacramento International Airport's secure area to get some belongings after arriving on an earlier flight Tuesday afternoon.
Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos says that before Transportation Security Administration officials could screen Barton, he picked up his bag and ran.
After he was stunned, Barton was subdued and taken to a hospital to be evaluated.
Ramos says Barton was booked into Sacramento County Jail, where he is being held on misdemeanor charges of suspicion of obstructing a peace officer and unlawfully accessing the secure area of an airport.
