Iowa's Big Lottery Mystery Still Isn't Solved

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Iowans will have to wait a little longer to learn the story behind a winning lottery ticket mysteriously turned in minutes before the deadline for a $14.3 million jackpot.

Iowa Lottery spokeswoman Mary Neubauer said Wednesday that Lottery officials still have not met with Crawford Shaw, a New York attorney who signed for the winning ticket, and do not have a meeting set.

Shaw had vowed in an interview with The Associated Press that he would come to Iowa this week to reveal the details. But he didn't return a phone call Wednesday.

Shaw is representing an investment trust that shipped the ticket to attorneys in Des Moines on Dec. 29. They turned it into Lottery officials later that day just 110 minutes before the year-old ticket expired.
