KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A police spokesman says officers have responded to a reported shooting at a suburban Kansas City mall.

Independence police spokesman Tom Gentry tells The Associated Press he's still trying to gather details, including the number of victims and whether any suspects are in custody.

KSHB-TV reported that officers locked Independence Center down Saturday afternoon after the shooting and evacuated several areas of the mall.

Independence Center is located just southeast of the intersection of Interstate 70 and Missouri 291.
