NEW YORK (AP) — A New Jersey woman got the morning commute of her life when she gave birth to her first child on a commuter train to New York City.

The 31-year-old woman from Harrison, N.J., says she was coming into the city Monday with her husband on the PATH train because she had been feeling some contraction-like pains. Along the way, the Indian couple realized the pains were contractions and that their son had already started to come out.

The couple says the child was born around 10 a.m. They declined to give their names because they hadn't told all of their family yet.

PATH officials turned the train into an express, bypassing most stops so that it would get to its final stop at 33rd Street as soon as possible.
