MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A former Wisconsin prosecutor who sent racy texts to a domestic abuse victim says regulators are trying to temporarily suspend his law license in an effort to silence criticism over their initial inaction.
Former Calumet County District Attorney Ken Kratz asked the state Supreme Court on Thursday to dismiss the complaint filed against him by the Office of Lawyer Regulation, which oversees Wisconsin lawyers.
Kratz notes that office declined to discipline him more than a year ago. The agency didn't return a message seeking comment.
Kratz resigned in October 2010 after The Associated Press reported he'd sent a barrage of racy texts to a 25-year-old domestic abuse victim, including calling her a "hot nymph," while prosecuting her ex-boyfriend.
Other women later alleged they also were sexually harassed. Kratz denies wrongdoing.
