WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) — Maine investigators who’re pressing for more information in a toddler’s disappearance say they have found no evidence that she was abducted.

Police who confirmed that blood found in the Waterville home came from Ayla Reynolds say three adults in the house aren’t giving a full account.

The father, Justin DiPietro, reported Ayla missing on Dec. 17. He’d put her to bed the night before and said she wasn’t there the next morning. State police spokesman Steve McCausland said Monday that the idea that someone could take a 20-month-old girl without disturbing three sleeping adults in a small house “doesn’t pass the straight-face test.”

McCausland says DiPietro and his girlfriend slept in the partially finished basement where the blood was found.
