DENVER (AP) — A powerful winter storm moving across Colorado is forcing the state Department of Transportation to close portions of Interstate 70 and Interstate 25, and the National Weather Service says snow is falling at 2 inches an hour on the Eastern Plains.

Transportation spokeswoman Becky Navarro says eastbound I-70 is closed from Aurora to Limon (LY'-man) and a ramp has been closed on Interstate 25 in Denver because of numerous accidents.

Jim Kalina of the National Weather Service says more snow is on the way and it's not expected to end until Saturday morning.
