3M Names New Thulin CEO

ST. PAUL., Minn. (AP) — 3M Co. is naming Inge Thulin its next president and chief executive officer. Inge is currently the company's chief operating officer.

Thulin's election to the top spot at the St. Paul, Minn. company is effective Feb. 24. He succeeds George Buckley, who will retire as president, chairman and chief executive on June 1.

Thulin, 58, also joins 3M's board. Buckley will remain chairman until the company's annual shareholder meeting in May, when the board plans to elect Thulin as chairman.

Thulin has served as chief operating officer since May. Before that, he was executive vice president of international operations.

Buckley was appointed as 3M's chairman, president and chief executive in 2005.

3M makes a wide range of products ranging from Post-it notes and Scotch Tape to mining equipment.
