LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — Police are reporting an explosion in a central Nigeria city that has seen attacks claimed by a radical Islamist sect.

The Kaduna State Police spokesman told The Associated Press an explosion occurred Tuesday morning in a residential neighborhood in Kaduna.

Aminu Lawan said officers from the police's anti-bomb squad said they had found other unexploded bombs in the area.

He said there have been no reports of casualties.

A radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram claimed a similar attack earlier this month.

Boko Haram is blamed for killing at least 286 people so far this year, according to an AP count. At least 185 people died in the sect's coordinated assault in January on Kano, the largest city of Nigeria's north.
