BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The sister of an Alabama woman who died during a honeymoon diving trip in Australia is now a prosecution witness in the murder trial of her former brother-in-law.

Alanda Thomas testified Tuesday in Birmingham against 34-year-old Gabe Watson, who is charged with drowning new wife Tina Thomas Watson in 2003.

Thomas told jurors that she talked to Watson as her sister's funeral was being planned in Alabama. Thomas says Watson told her he was done grieving by then and was moving on.

Thomas says she never again talked to Watson. A judge blocked many more of the questions that prosecutors wanted to ask the woman.

Prosecutors contend the man killed his wife for insurance money, but the defense says her death was an accident. Watson has since remarried.
