LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A man accused of killing a 16-year-old girl he met online whose body was found stuffed into a barrel in western Arkansas has been charged with first-degree murder.

Lloyd Jones is scheduled to go before a judge Wednesday to face charges in the death of Angela Allen.

Allen’s body was found Friday inside a blue, plastic barrel on land owned by Jones’ brother near Lavaca, about 15 miles east of Fort Smith.

According to court documents, 36-year-old Jones told investigators he picked Allen up Feb. 10 and took her to the Arkansas River. Jones said he was making out with Allen, but he pushed her into the water after she told him her age.

A preliminary autopsy showed Allen died of strangulation and no fluid was found in her lungs.
