JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli media say the prime minister’s top spokesman has resigned, injecting new turmoil into Benjamin Netanyahu’s troubled bureau.
Israeli newspapers, TV and radio stations are reporting on Wednesday that Yoaz Hendel is leaving because Netanyahu was not pleased with the way he handled the case of another top aide forced to step down over a sexual harassment scandal.
In an apparent attempt to protect Netanyahu, Hendel and two other staffers in the Israeli leader’s office tried to handle the harassment affair without involving him.
The reports say that has angered Netanyahu, who expressed a loss of faith in top aides, and Hendel resigned.
There was no immediate comment from the prime minister’s office.
